In this potent mix of original bluegrass and country, hoofing, hijinks, and feverish young love, Gancher reimagines both Pushkin's novel and Tchaikovsky's opera. The star-crossed story plays out in 1940s rural Arkansas/1960s Nashville, where a girl who dreams of writing songs falls for a magnetic—but reckless—touring musician.
